Sky Brings Live TV to iPhone with its Mobile TV Application

Sky Mobile TV application is now available in the iTunes application store. This application allows users to stream live TV via Wi-Fi. The channels available through this application include Sky Sports channels, Sky Sports News, Sky News, ESPN and At The Races. Using this application Sports fans will be able watch coverage of all live televised Barclays Premier League, Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League and Coca Cola Football League games, as well as live coverage of international and domestic cricket, PGA European Tour Golf, Guinness Premiership Rugby and a range of other sports.

Orange Sells 30,000 iPhone Devices on First Day

Orange started selling Apple’s iPhone device from yesterday - November 10 in the U.K. and sold 30,000 units on the first day. Until now O2 was the only wireless carrier with the rights to sell iPhone in the U.K. Now Orange is selling it, and from the beginning of the next year Vodafone will be selling the device too. However, the expectations of a price war in the U.K. market have not materialized, as Orange is selling it at the same price as O2. Orange is also putting a 750 MB data limit on the 3G Internet usage which has made some users unhappy.

Virus Attack Reported on Jail Broken iPhones

A virus attack has been reported on jail broken iPhones which is spreading fast. The attack which started in Australia has a self propagating virus that changes the iPhone's wallpaper to a picture of 80s singer Rick Astley with the message "ikee is never going to give you up". Apple only allows users to install applications approved by it and sold through its iTunes store. However, users can bypass this restriction using a hack called “jail breaking,” which allows them to install applications not approved by Apple, and developed by third party developers.

Orange Wednesdays Application Announced

Orange has launched an Orange Wednesdays application for the iPhone which lets Orange users get 2 for 1 cinema vouchers. The application shows the movies that are playing near you. You can watch trailers, read and post film reviews, search for films, and find your local cinema with maps and directions. The details of the movie can also be e-mailed to a friend. The application can be downloaded for free from iTunes store.

NASA Launches an Application for the iPhone

NASA has released an application for the iPhone that delivers updated content directly from agency sources. The application shows all NASA current missions in a table view. A filter button in the application allows you to turn off or turn on the missions. You can click on any of the missions to see details about that mission. In the mission details page, you can view the mission description, see mission specific images and videos, visit the mission website, email the mission link to someone, view a launch or arrival countdown clock and view an orbit tracking screen (if the spacecraft is in orbit around the Earth) for some missions. Amazon.co.uk Releases an Application for iPhone

Amazon.co.uk has released a mobile application for iPhone – Amazon Mobile UK. This application allows users to search, shop, compare prices, read reviews, and make purchases on Amazon Web site. Existing customers will have full access to their existing baskets, wish lists, payment and delivery options, order history, 1-click Settings, and Prime membership benefits. All purchases are routed through Amazon’s secure servers just as on the Web and all prices are in Pounds Sterling.

Orange to Start Selling iPhone on November 10

Orange is going to start selling iPhone from November 10 in the U.K., according to reports. The Guardian reported on Sunday that Orange will start selling Apple iPhone 3GS a day after O2’s two year exclusive contract with Apple to sell iPhone devices comes to an end. Orange will sell the iPhone devices through its own stores and through Phones4U. Carphone Warehouse is also expected to sell the iPhone devices from Orange.

Nokia Sues Apple Claiming iPhone Patent Infringements

Nokia has sued Apple alleging that Apple's iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards. They claim to have invested more than EUR 40 billion in R&D during the last two decades. According to Nokia, much of this intellectual property, including the patents in suit, has been declared essential to industry standards. They claim to have license agreements including these patents with approximately 40 companies, including virtually all the leading mobile device vendors.

Tesco Launches a Free application – Tesco Finder

Tesco has launched a free application “Tesco Finder” for the iPhone. This application can locate Tesco’s nearest store and help you get there using iPhone’s map function. Alternatively, you can type in a town or city name and the application will list all Tesco branches in and around that location. When you select a Tesco branch from the results list, you can see its full address, contact telephone number, and a list of facilities it has available – including cash machines, pharmacy, toilets, café, Tesco direct ordering and pickup, photo processing, recycling and petrol station.

Electronic Arts Mobile has announced that it will be launching the Rock Band game on the iPhone later this month. You can play it solo or with 2-4 band mates using the Bluetooth multiplayer option. You can bail out your mates when they miss their notes using overdrive. There are four ways to play: Rock out on guitar, bass, drums and vocals to MP3-quality songs. You can choose your difficulty level from easy, medium or difficult, and play along 20 songs from bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foo Fighters, Blink-182, The Beastie Boys, and more.
